Featured Ride - Tommaso Monza Road Bike

While discussing bikes this weekend with a friend we got into a discussion about "bang for the buck." If you're unfamiliar with this phrase it means the value of the item in question. At Randall Scott we shoot for the biggest bang for the buck possible, we want to give you as much bike for as little dough as possible. Our discussion veered from overall bikes into components and the final outcome of our debate is that Shimano 105 is often overlooked when compared to Ultegra in the bang for the buck category. All Shimano components are great (especially when their at closeout pricing) but Shimano 105 is ideal for the intermediate rider. If you're racing your bike you may want to look at Ultegra or Dura-Ace but if you're a recreational rider or just starting out 105 has the durability and weight-to-price ratio that is unbeatable.

We sell the Tommaso Monza Road Bike which is spec'd out with Shimano 105 components specifically for this reason. The bang for the buck on this bike is flat-out untouchable. The Monza features a light-weight compact aluminum frame, carbon fork, and Shimano 105 components. To compare you can get a Trek 2.1 with aluminum frame, carbon fork, and Shimano 105 components for more than twice the price of the Monza! Same frame material, 6061 aluminum, same fork, same components, almost $800 cheaper. Trek doesn't list their bike weights on their site otherwise we would compare that for you too, for reference the Monza is a meager 21.6 pounds in a size 54cm.

For more information about the Tommaso Monza you can see Tommaso's product manager talk about the bike at the Tommaso Facebook Page right here.
