Amazing Little Machine: Suunto’s T3 - a Personal Trainer that fits on your wrist.

Want a personal trainer that doesn’t hover over you with a pretentious grin, perfectly sculpted abs, and barrage you with motivational clichés? Look no further, Suunto’s T3 is more than a heart rate monitor, as it has the ability to provide real-time information on the aerobic benefit of each workout, let you know if you’re over or under training, and give you the exact information you’ll need to tailor an effective goal reaching-regimen.

The T3 is truly innovative in that it can help you achieve a variety of fitness goals, whether it be losing weight, improving cardiovascular ability, or shaving seconds off marathons.
    What it offers specifically:

    · Real-time Training Effect
    ·
Current heart rate, average heart rate and maximum heart rate
    · Real-time calories burned
    · Three-tier zone training system with alarms
    · 2 adjustable HR limits with alarms
    · Speed and distance with optional Foot POD, Bike POD or GPS POD
    · Compatible with PC POD
    · Log memory for 15 workouts
    · Interval timer
    · User-replaceable battery
    · HR Belt with error-free ANT transmission technology
    · Water resistant to 30m (100 ft)
    · Stopwatch with 50 split laps
    · Interchangeable bands
    · Oh yeah, it also tells time.

And, how exactly does the T3 work?

Working from your personal fitness profile, the Suunto t3 analyzes your heartbeats and translates the data into a simple, one-to-five Training Effect scale. Think of it as a personal training guide. If, for example, you want to improve your aerobic fitness at a moderate tempo, you should work out until your TE meter reads 3.0 to 3.9 (2 to 4 times weekly).

Alternatively, if you want to improve your aerobic condition rapidly without the risk of overtraining, you should push yourself until your TE meter reads 4.0 to 4.9 (1 to 2 times weekly with a few recovery sessions in the TE 1.0 to 2.0 range).

It's important to note that Training Effect is relative to each user. While a novice runner might achieve a TE of 4.0 on a four-mile jog, a professional runner might have to complete an uphill marathon to get the same reading. Both runners will have to exercise "hard" to achieve a TE of 4.0.

In addition to Training Effect, the Suunto t3 displays heart rate, calories burned and zone training. It also shows speed and distance with optional Suunto PODs.

The onboard logbook has a 15 workout memory, and archiving and further analysis are available with a Suunto PC POD and Training Manager Lite software.

As someone who owns a Suunto T3 and has previously had trouble creating, monitoring, and fulfilling a successful training strategy, I can honestly say that, uneqivocally, the T3 has been the most effective tool in helping me reach my weight and fitness goals.

Randall Scott Cycle Company now offers a variety of Suunto products.

Brace Yourself: here come the Randall Scott Girls

Brace yourself: here come the Randall Scott Girls

Today’s blog is short and sweet – a preemptive warning to the Randall Scott Community. I was recently hired on here at Randall Scott for many reasons: I have an ok personality, I always wear my shirts one size too small, I can type 60 words per minute even though I only have nine and half fingers, I went to college with the owner, I am a cycling know it all, and most importantly, I know three hot girls.

(Yes, I really have nine fingers, and no that’s not one of the girls I know)

These three girls will showcase our cutting-edge, made in the USA, and 100% GREEN apparel in an end of the summer blockbuster, knock em’ down - drag em out cat fight (all fully documented on the blog of course). Our hope is to promote MFIRSAPC (More Females In Randall Scott Apparel Promoting Conservation). But in 26 years I’ve met three girls who will still talk to me – so we’re nine girls short for this year.

Tomorrow’s blog will feature some new riveting product reviews, but in the meantime check out our pending apparel designs and vote for the best designs by posting the garments name in the blog reply:

Should he do it? My Roomate is putting the fate of his body in the hands the Randall Scott community and Carmichael Training Systems

A Brief History: My roommate (we’ll call him Brattles) and his body have had a tumultuous relationship since I can remember. He constantly asks me how his once intimidating, bull–like frame has faded into a feminine pear, accentuated by child-bearing hips. He asks me why, when he used to be nicknamed Jon Cocktolstien, he now can’t get the time of day from the Home Depot hot dog girl. He asks me how the employees here at Randall Scott have the time to tirelessly work all day and still remain among Colorado’s cycling elite. Still, he walks around the halls of our house clad in nothing but violet Ocean Pacific shorts, maybe to spite me, maybe to spite himself, I don’t know? What I do know: a change is in order.

The Offer: So, being the compassionate and supportive friend I am, I let the Brattles in on a can’t-miss opportunity….. Currently, Randall Scott Cycle Company is offering a promotion in conjunction with Carmichael Training Systems: purchase a bike from Randall Scott and you are entitled to a FREE 30 day trial run of Carmichael’s Classic Coaching Package. Not only do you get a new bike, you get guidance: Establish training goals, Train under the CTS methodology and philosophy, Maximum benefit in fewer hours per week, Regular and on-the-fly training schedule adjustments made based upon your p

rogress, and Easy on-line forum gives access to pro coaches.

Brattles body/life changing strategies change more than Paris Hilton’s.......but this time a line in the sand has been drawn, an ultimatum issued, and Brattles has signed a contract stating that if 35 members of the Randall Scott Community reply to this post and advocate this body/life altering endeavor, he, with me as his witness (and worst nightmare), will complete a month long training regimen inspired by Carmichael Training Systems (http://www.trainright.com), a proven leader in the business of making athletes leaner, fitter, and faster.

Results? Think, hours of mental and physical anguish, probably some vomiting, maybe a trip to the hospital, and, eventually, a body crafted from shaved steel - with the endurance of a top-flight cyclist - could be Brattles', if you take the thirty seconds to reply and graciously enter him into this world of sublime pain that comes with the promise of a new fitness first lifestyle. He sits with his fingers crossed, hoping you won’t reply. But, deep down in his stomach, nestled amongst Oreos and Haagan Dazs, he knows he wants this. Help a fellow cyclist who, many years ago, strayed from path and forgot the joys of the rippled six pack and the low-carb shake. Brattles was once known as The Body, let's return this struggling painter and part time sheet rocker to his former glory.

You can offer the Brattles words of encouragement by replying to this BLOG or give me license to brandish my own interpretations of encouragement by responding to scott@rscycle.com.

How to: Steal a Car and Expedite it to Alaska or Win a Free Bike from Randall Scott Cycle Company

On today’s blog we offer you, the Randall Scott Community, a chance to both learn and win. While the objectives of both of todays' "how to" topics can be attained with relative ease, we’ll start with the less time consuming: How to win a FREE Commencal Combi Disc Bike (http://www.commencal.com/).

The Commencal Combi Disc Bike is a versatile thoroughbred, able to cater to novice riders interested in leisurely rides, bad enough to handle the rigors of big mountain riding, and offering more than ample performance for those aspiring to reach the upper echelons of their local racing circuits. This machine can be yours by simply clicking comencal giveaway and following the on-screen entry instructions. This will automatically enter you in the promotion, which will last from August 29, 2006 until Nov 30, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. MST. If you win, you'll be notified by email (your chances are probably better than you think) and soon receive a huge box, with the Commencal in it, at your doorstep. The name of the winner will be posted online at www.rscycle.com after Dec 1, 2006.

The second leg of our blog is a little more time consuming, but surprisingly, not much more complicated: How to Steal a Car and Expedite it to Alaska.

Last summer a good high school friend of mine (we'll call him Matt) had been painting in NH for a real stand up guy. Matt had racked up about 500 man hours of scraping, priming, painting, and sweating, for which he had been paid approximately $0.

Being the optimist he is, Matt continued, in good faith, to believe his bosses' claims that the money would soon be in his hand. When his car broke down, the boss was more than happy to lend him one of his - so Matt could continue to work for no compensation. At about 3:00 that afternoon Matt was in line at the DMV with a very official looking Bill of Sale in his paws. Things couldn't have gone more smoothly. After a few smiles, some small talk, and the installation of vanity plates reading "BSTBOSEVR", Matt was on the open road, en route to Alaska in his new 91' VW Sciracco

A year later he tells me the car still runs great and his street credit in Anchorage is through the roof. So, minus the three hour line at the DMV, a new car could be your in the time it takes to forge one small document.
(Randall Scott Cycling Company does not, in any way, condone this type of behavior, or support any form of grand theft auto.)
