The Definition of Value - The Tommaso Imola Road Bikes

You know those families where there are a set of siblings and they are both super awesome? One of the siblings is usually a little more badass than the other but they are both just blessed. Everything they touch turns to gold. I'm the little brother but so it pains me to say that the older brother is usually the more blessed of the two.

Tommaso has replicated this dynamic, probably just to spite me. The Imola family of road bikes are those kids down the street that dominated everyone at basketball. If your into cycling they are the Schleck brothers.

The Tommaso Imola with Carbon Fork Road Bike is Frank Schleck. Actually it is just a bike. The Tommaso Imola with the carbon fork is the big brother to the Imola and the only real difference between the two bikes is that carbon fork. Not to be downplayed that carbon fork can make a world of difference when riding, especially on long rides. It makes the overall weight of the bike less and the carbon is designed to absorb road vibrations making for a smoother ride.

The Tommaso Imola Road Bike is Andy Schleck, the little brother. The "regular Imola" as it is known around here probably gets a bad rap when compared to the Carbon brother but it is a beast, especially when you consider the price. Both bikes are tricked out with a sleak black paint job, Tommasos compact aluminum frame, and Shimano components including STI shift levers with optical display and adjustable reach.

Trek, Specialized, or an other bike company can't even come close to offering the same value as these beauties. Go ahead and compare, we don't mind, they might though.

Featured Ride - Tommaso Monza Road Bike

While discussing bikes this weekend with a friend we got into a discussion about "bang for the buck." If you're unfamiliar with this phrase it means the value of the item in question. At Randall Scott we shoot for the biggest bang for the buck possible, we want to give you as much bike for as little dough as possible. Our discussion veered from overall bikes into components and the final outcome of our debate is that Shimano 105 is often overlooked when compared to Ultegra in the bang for the buck category. All Shimano components are great (especially when their at closeout pricing) but Shimano 105 is ideal for the intermediate rider. If you're racing your bike you may want to look at Ultegra or Dura-Ace but if you're a recreational rider or just starting out 105 has the durability and weight-to-price ratio that is unbeatable.

We sell the Tommaso Monza Road Bike which is spec'd out with Shimano 105 components specifically for this reason. The bang for the buck on this bike is flat-out untouchable. The Monza features a light-weight compact aluminum frame, carbon fork, and Shimano 105 components. To compare you can get a Trek 2.1 with aluminum frame, carbon fork, and Shimano 105 components for more than twice the price of the Monza! Same frame material, 6061 aluminum, same fork, same components, almost $800 cheaper. Trek doesn't list their bike weights on their site otherwise we would compare that for you too, for reference the Monza is a meager 21.6 pounds in a size 54cm.

For more information about the Tommaso Monza you can see Tommaso's product manager talk about the bike at the Tommaso Facebook Page right here.

VeloNews Shows The Tommaso Superleggera Some Love

VeloNews who is one of the most respected sources in cycling has selected Tommaso's Superleggera Road Bike to feature in their Buyer's Guide for 2010. The Tommaso Superleggera which features an ultra-light Tommaso full carbon frame and Shimano Dura-Ace components is certainly one of the best bikes on the market, especially when you consider the price. VeloNews gave the bike great praise which only backs up how we feel about this beauty. We even got a small shout out in the article, thanks guys!

They highlight one of the best features of the Tommaso brand, their online presence and responsiveness to customers. Tommaso has an extremely active Facebook and Twitter presence, but if you've ever been to the page you'll know it's a listening medium. Tommaso gets feedback from customers and potential customers and uses that information to directly impact the bikes produced. The end result is a bike the customer actually wants, instead of Trek or Specialized telling the customer what they want.

Check out the article here, the Superleggera at Tommaso's website, and you can see it/purchase it at our site right here.

    Resolution Shmesolution

Now that the new year is a few weeks underway it can be safely assumed that everyone has forgotten about their resolutions and settled back into a comfy routine. I can’t say that I’m not guilty of this, although I will say that I bought some new running shoes to help motivate me and they have done the trick. I’m not where I want to be in terms of my resolution, my resolution was to exercise more, but the new shoes are sort of like a trigger. When I see them I get this little feeling of guilt and decide to go snowboarding. Yeah, it’s a little messed up that I don’t go running but this is the case and I’ll take what I can get.

New gear can motivate you in many ways, hopefully more directly than my shoes motivate me. We have had numerous customers tell us that they are on their new bikes fulfilling their own new year’s resolutions, and kudos to them; they are more strong-willed than I am. It is a common resolution to exercise more, especially after all the holiday feasting. It is just as common to break that resolution. Just as new gear has helped me sort-of keep my resolution, we suggest the following options to try and keep yours.
The cycling season approaches faster than you think, getting a new road bike now will ensure you’re not left behind com season time
For those in a more urban setting a track bike is a great way to get outdoors, it also makes a stellar commuter
If it worked for me it may work for you. We have great deals on hiking shoes, climbing shoes, and trail running shoes.

Hopefully this is enough to get you back on track with your resolution. We have more tips and deals at our twitter so check that out too.
