Randall Scott Buys My Little Sister’s Dirtbike

We have a new toy here at the Randall Scott Headquarters – a sexy Randall Scott Green Logo Dirtbike. A 250cc, sexy Randall bought the bike from my sister (a former Northern Lights Gymnast and X Games hopeful) who just recently sprouted to 5’4” and is moving up to a 450cc.

    (OK, it's pretty rad)

However, this is not a purely feminine purchase, as we have a volatile mix of personalities in the office that could be a true recipe for disaster with a man’s bike. Randall, like any good leader, was putting the safety of his employees before his ego.

    (Like I said...it's RAD)

You see, we have a resident daredevil - Sam Mishkin – who’s skilled in the art of, as he puts it, “sick dirt bike jumps". And then we have a bunch of impressionable young kids.
(Sammy mentally preparing to jump the whole staff at the company picnic)

With these brash youngsters, who can barely manage a wheelie on a cruiser, trying to emulate Sammy’s tricked out Mcguyver stunts, our workman’s comp rep would be hearing from us on a weekly basis - something we can't afford.....yet.

    Questionable at Best

I've yet to post a blog on a whim, but I just stumbled (literally) into these, and at the moment, think they're above average. Will I have a job tomorrow? - probably because I had PWI's written into my contract.

Eloquent, Thoughtful, Chillaxin’…….I give you Malibu.

Malibu of American Gladiators deftly describes the medical techniques he employed to recover from a vicious hit he absorbed during a particularly brutal match of Human Cannonball.

We caught up with Malibu a few days ago while he was playing Powerball at a local park with Dustin Diamond, and asked him about his time on Gladiators.

As wonderful of an experience as it was, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you how much of a hindrance it was to my entertainment career. After leaving Gladiators to pursue theatre, the thespian in me swiftly dissipated under the oppressive chains of typecasting. Supercilious director after supercilious director insisted I play the role of penetrating lawyer in the mold of Ben Matlock, or distinguished judge in the mold of Phillip Banks. Repeatedly I pleaded with these directors, these eccentric and omnipotent aristocrats who smothered my muse like a burrito from Long John Silver’s, asking them, “if you clip a doves wings will it not, not fly?” My beseeching inevitably fell upon deaf ears and I returned to Ohio, and once again became Malibu.

Like so many chasing the American Dream, we learn even Gladiators aren't immune to the harsh reality known as Broadway.

    My First Wheelie........

Yesterday was the inaugural installation of our “Beginner Riding Skills” Seminar. This was the second class in our Summer Semester Series and built upon the knowledge learned in the first, “Basic Bike Maintenance”.

This class was lead by Akira, a professional trials rider who works in our concept showroom, and was as big a hit as last week’s opener. This seminar was a little more interactive, as the students brought their bikes and gear to get feets on training at our facility.

( Akira explaining to some of our students the importance of stand-over clearance)

Learning the basics of shifting, steering, balance and body position, the students enjoyed instruction from an elite cyclist for the price of free. As we gain momentum, classes are getting booked quickly – but there’s still plenty of space left – so sign up for next weeks class, “Heart Rate Training for the Endurance Athlete”, as soon as possible.

Like a BLT with Peanut Butter, Randall Scott, Joyengine, and BMOCA are the Perfect Combo.

First of all, a BLT with peanut butter is amazing – you obviously leave out the mayonnaise, and a tall glass of chocolate milk is a must. If you try it and don’t like it, 100 free Randall Scott points are yours.

A couple weeks ago we attended a local art opening at the BMOCA (Boulder Museum Of Contemporary Art) which was featuring some work from our boys at Joyengine. Joyenegine are the guys who helped us tag our showroom and design our tee shirts. I’m not usually one who seeks out high culture, but it was a blast. We sipped some wine, talked about brush strokes, and decided we should team up with BMOCA and Joyengine on an art meets sport museum blowout.

("Those brush strokes are so subtle, it reminds me of Monet's Lilly Pads."~Randall Scott)

On July 27th we’re having our own opening at BMOCA where we’ll have a performance put on by one of our employee’s team, RipStoke. This will consist of two 30 minutes trial performances done to music and lights.

(Hands down my favorite painting from the exhibit)

We’ll also be having a silent auction for a bike frame painted by the artists at Joyengine, and feature our T-shirts with a presentation on the art process of silk screening.
(The dudettes from Joyengine after a furious tagging session)

There may even be another locally painted frame, as my roommate, who doubles as our Local Marketing Director, was an Arts and Crafts major at CU and has been sanding and painting a Huffy frame for the last month.

Who Knew: 10 Years Ago Renaissance Man, Bruce Willis, Was Killin’ it with "Under The Boardwalk"…….aaaahhhh the 80’s

It’s been a while since we’ve dropped some 80’s on you…..ok it probably hasn’t been that long, but we’ve got a real Gem today. There was a mild debate in the office this morning, Sammy wanted the 1970’s Apache video posted, but being the final authority on the blog, I vetoed that in favor of the smooth sounds of Joe Hallenbeck (Last Boyscout)....."Touch me again and I'll kill you."

(Besides Demi Moore, is there anything Willis can't do?)

    Can Randall Regain His Form?

Once called the “Emilio Estevez of the Single Track”, Randall Scott’s long hours at the office have made his riding opportunities few and far between - and relegated him to the “John Larroquette of the Single Track”.

Randall’s summer quest is to regain his title, but his first two rides could very generously be described as auspicious. Betasso Preserve was where we decided to first crack the whip on this white-collar sweetheart.

Sweet Sam Mishkin had the honor of leading Randall on his first ride of the season. Betasso is a passive loop - a gorgeous melding of double and single tracks that ocassionally reveals the Hamlet of Boulder between the slicing foothills of the Rockies and offers riders the chance to build endurance without wrestling with anything too technical. This Trail should have been cat food for Randalls 2007 MKIII Team.

When I asked Sam how Randall’s first ride was, I received the following synopsis - which I thought was quite concise:

    2 Vomits
    2 Flats
    1 Crash
1 Game of Chicken with a 4 year old girl on foot (Randall Lost and has the bloody arm to prove it)

(Nice Fake Smile, and yes, I photoshpped in his bicep)

I gave Randall a day of recovery before I took him for Betasso round 2.

This version went much smoother. We arrived at Betasso around 6am to avoid Randall having another ego struggle with any preschoolers. Our ride was void of any vomits, flats, crashes, or tests of manhood,

Next stop for Randall: Heil Ranch, a moderately difficult, but infinitely infuriating ride that is sure to test his resolve with endless mini rock gardens. We’ll keep you posted.

(Randall hoping people think Sweet Kate, Sam's Girl, is his)
